29. GOD'S SALVATION: LAW AND GRACE
29. GOD'S SALVATION: LAW AND GRACE
THE MORAL LAW, ROOTED IN DIVINE WISDOM AND WRITTEN ON THE HUMAN HEART, IS FULFILLED IN OUR LIFE WITH CHRIST
Compendium 415-433 Romans 2: 15
"Natural Law" is an inherent sense of right and wrong written on our hearts by the creator and is the basis of rights and duties of individuals and communities. The Ten Commandments summarize natural law. The natural law is brought to perfection in the Beatitudes. The grace to live the Beatitudes is a gift of the Holy Spirit. The Precepts of the Catholic Faith are a necessary guide to living a life of Beatitude as Jesus proclaimed.
The five precepts of the Church:
You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation and remain free from work or activity that could impede the sanctification of such days.
You shall confess your sins at least once a year.
You shall receive the sacrament of the Eucharist at least during the Easter season.
You shall observe the days of fasting and abstinence established by the Church.
